NES Hub: Bluetooth controller adapter for Nintendo NES expansion port now available with shipment dates also set
RetroTime has now released the NES Hub, which it describes as 'a Bluetooth receiver unlike any other'. For context, RetroTime announced the NES Hub earlier this year with four aims. Principally, the NES Hub brings Bluetooth controller support to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) rather than just the original NES controller (curr. $26.57 - renewed on Amazon).
However, it also serves as an alternative to the official NES Four Score, which is now 31 years old and is not necessarily the easiest accessory to obtain. On top of that, the NES Hub finally makes use of the 15-pin expansion port located on the bottom of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Please note that the NES Hub is only compatible with the NES-001 and not any subsequent NES revisions.
Moreover, the NES Hub supports Expansion Audio, which Nintendo designed as an option for games to use more audio channels to provide a superior audio experience. Furthermore, the accessory also exposes three ports for future add-ons to augment the CPU and controller experience, among other uses. Currently, the NES Hub is available to order from 8BitMods for $57.28 or $83.30 with an SNES controller add-on. At the time of publication, RetroTime hopes to begin shipping the NES Hub in December.
