Nintendo’s strict stance on emulation has come under scrutiny after a video revealed potential use of PC-based emulation in its newly opened museum.

Nintendo has a very clear stance on emulation - don't do it. The company has made it obvious on several occasions that emulation is a no-go, the most recent example being Ryujinx (a Nintendo Switch emulator) getting shut down. The lead developer of Ryujinx was pressured by Nintendo America, which further led to all downloads and the GitHub repositories being removed. But that's not what this article is about.

Nintendo recently opened up a new museum in Uji, Japan - and it's so busy that upon its opening on October 2, 2024, all tickets for the first two months were already sold out. Well, X/Twitter user @ChrisMack32 posted a video from the museum where he unplugged a Nintendo Super Famicon controller from the system, and the Windows peripheral disconnect sound can be distinctly heard over the speakers. Considering Nintendo is one of those companies that condemns emulation and deems it illegal, this was a surprise and a half - even more so, considering this is PC-based emulation we are talking about (if the video is to be believed).

Safe to say, users on social media were far from kind. Although some users argued that Nintendo is specifically against 3rd-party emulators, most people cited Nintendo's own 'hypocritical' words regarding emulation, given below:
