RG P01: First Anbernic wireless controller now official with 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth support
Anbernic has just confirmed all specifications for its next retro gaming handheld, the RG CubeXX. While the company tends to release one new product per month, this may not be true in October. Although it has not confirmed anything yet, it has not officially showcased its first wireless controller, which it intends to sell as the the RG P01.
Fundamentally, the RG P01 looks like an 8BitDo Ultimate 2C (curr. $29.99 on Amazon). To that end, the RG P01 borrows wholesale from 8BitDo's button layout, including the four that flank Anbernic's logo. However, Anbernic's logo does not serve as an additional button like 8BitDo's does on the Ultimate 2C.

Also, the RG P01 has RGB backlight joysticks and vertically orientated LED connection lights. Moreover, Anbernic's first controller supports 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with support mentioned for Android, iOS, Steam, Switch and Windows devices. Furthermore, Anbernic states that the RG P01 has two rear-mounted programmable macro buttons.
With that being said, it has not shown these in any marketing materials. Likewise, it remains to be seen how the controller's d-pad performs, let alone its latency over 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth. On top of that, Anbernic has not yet provided any information about joystick dead zones or whether they suffer from cardinal snapping like some of its retro gaming handheld releases.
