Nintendo Switch 2 leak hints at Joy-Con improvements along with a price hike and a potential launch date
Nintendo's Switch 2 has been the center of a whirlwind of rumors. In a recent round of supply chain leaks, several aspects of the widely awaited Switch 2 were revealed. Now, an exclusive report by Vandal - a Spanish magazine - has shed light on a few further aspects of the fan-favorite console, courtesy of Blade's CEO Ruben Mercado, an accessory maker with early access to the project.
According to Ruben, the development process of the Nintendo Switch 2 is apparently complete, as his company already has access to the final version of the console. This should not come as much of a surprise since it is a rather common practice for accessory makers to have access to finalized hardware ahead of time. This is generally done to ensure that compatible cases and other accessories are available soon after the official launch.
The CEO further adds, that the Switch 2 is likely to be unveiled sometime in March or April of 2025, depending on which financial quarter Nintendo decides to bolster. The console will likely command a price tag in the range of $440-$550, making it more expensive than the current-generation Switch, but still more affordable than other current-generation consoles.
Although Ruben claimed to have no information regarding the console's specifications, he did mention that the upcoming Switch 2's Joy-Cons will feature magnetic connectors, allowing for easier attachment and removal. This has been rumored previously, with Ruben's statement further adding weight to its possibility. Also, the analog sticks have likely been redesigned, as indicated by his statement that protective covers for the current Nintendo Switch will no longer be compatible with its successor.
Previous leaks have suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2 will rock an Nvidia Tegra SoC paired with up to 12 GB of memory and a larger OLED screen, promising a rather substantial upgrade over the Switch.
