The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be announced before April 2025. If that is true, the gaming handheld should already be in mass production, and it seems the images of the factory prototypes of the console may have leaked. A new report has also shed light on the possible specs of the device.

Nintendo hasn't announced Switch 2 yet, but the company confirmed that the announcement would be made within this fiscal year. That means the next-gen gaming handheld should be officially revealed before April 2025. A recent rumor has also hinted that the console has entered the mass production stage, and with that, we got a factory leak.

This leak comes from an unspecified Chinese social media site, and it shows the possible design of the gaming handheld. As the user who shared it on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit says, the source who shared the images, said to be a factory worker, seemingly thought the NDA expired. Regardless, all leaks should be taken with a fair amount of salt, and the same applies to this one.

As for the pictures shared, they show what's thought to be the CAD images of Nintendo Switch 2. It appears that some of these images are often comparing the new design with the current-gen device. If that holds true, the upcoming gaming handheld seems larger but has the same design as the first-gen Switch. This aligns with the previous reports we had about the console.

Another notable change spotted in the CAD files is two USB-C ports, one at the bottom and one at the top. Also, there appears to be an extra bumper on the Joy-cons, and the slot for game cards seems to be the same as the first-gen Switch (available at Best Buy). The latter could mean backward compatibility.

A separate report from the same Chinese website but from a different source has shared the possible specs of the Switch 2. This leak claims that the console will be powered by a SoC with a model number GMLX30-R-A1. It's believed to be the Nvidia Tegra T239.

This spec leak also suggests that Nintendo will be pairing the SoC with LPPDR5X RAM from Micron with 7500 MT/s. The capacity is thought to be 12 GB, which would be a big upgrade from the first-gen Switch.
