A recently uploaded YouTube video portrays the efficiency prowess of a Lunar Lake-equipped Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 'Aura Edition' laptop. Lasting almost an entire day in the local video playback test, the Yoga laptop leaves the 15-inch M3 MacBook Air in the dust.

Intel's Lunar Lake mobile lineup has finally hit the scene, and it seems the beleaguered chip titan might finally be regaining its grove. A plethora of laptops with Lunar Lake chips were introduced at IFA, which are expected to reach consumers in the coming weeks.

In a recently uploaded video by the YouTube channel Lenovo PC, the Yoga Slim 7i 'Aura Edition' with a Core Ultra 7 258V 'Lunar Lake' chip was put to the test against Apple's M2-, as well as M3-powered 15-inch MacBook Air in terms of battery life. The test encompassed a 24 FPS 1920 x 1080 local video playback with brightness set to 150 nits and WiFi turned off.

As expected, the MacBook Air M2 came in at last place, having clocked 18 hours and 19 minutes. The MacBook Air M3 was next in line, which died after 18 hours and 32 minutes. The Yoga Slim 7i, however, was well ahead of both the other contenders and lasted a whopping 23 hours and 54 minutes before calling it a day.

Now, of course, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i benefits from a larger battery, coming in at 70 Wh, which is slightly over 5% larger than the MacBook Air's 66.5 Wh. However, Lenovo's lead in the battery test was almost 29%, making the Lunar Lake-equipped Yoga's efficiency rather impressive even when accounting for the larger battery.

That being said, battery life in a scenario that is limited to local video playback is hardly the final word in terms of battery life. More importantly, how Lunar Lake-equipped laptops perform in more demanding scenarios remains to be seen from independent testing, and with Apple's M4-powered MacBooks set to arrive soon, the mobile chip war is far from over.
