Leaked Nintendo Switch 2 price appears to be good news for fans
A few days ago we reported that the industry sources were pointing to Nintendo announcing possible Switch 2 news this month. From that, we postulated that we could be on the verge of getting the official Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, or, at the very least, a small teaser.
A new rumor alleging the Nintendo Switch 2 price and reveal date has now emerged online. If this latest pricing info turns out to be accurate, Nintendo could have another hit console on its hands.
The information under discussion comes from a source who doesn’t have an extensive track record but has been right about the PS5 Pro announcement date and price. So, while believable, take the Switch 2 leak with a grain of salt.
Nintendo Switch 2 price and announcement date
According to the leaker who goes by the username “moistycharlie” on the GTA 6 Discord server, the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost $400 for the base model. This is lower than the $499 price point claimed by a rumor from August.
More interestingly, the $400 Switch 2 starting price, if true, is pretty good news for the fans. The OG Switch launched back in 2017 at a price of $299.99 in the US. Adjusted for inflation, this comes out to be $366. Taking into account the hardware and performance upgrades proposed for the next-generation Switch 2, the $36 price bump seems justified, making Nintendo’s new console an intriguing deal.
The leaker further states that Nintendo will reveal the Switch 2 early next month. This in contrast to our earlier reporting.
Nintendo Switch 2 SKUs
The Switch 2 will allegedly be available in two different SKUs. However, the leaker shares no other information. So, we don’t know the specifications, design, and performance differences between these Switch 2 SKUs.
If we had to speculate, Nintendo could continue the strategy of offering a low-cost handheld-only Switch 2 Lite and a dockable Switch 2. In addition to this, we can also imagine the Switch 2 to be more powerful and boast a better screen than the Switch 2 Lite.
All we have to do now is wait and see if Nintendo does announce Switch 2 next month or if the console remains elusive for some time more.
