New Switch 2 rumors point to 60W charger and confirm cooler in the docking station
The most important details on the features of the supposed Nintendo Switch 2, which according to Nintendo CEO Shuntarō Furukawa will be announced by March 2025 has already been revealed. Now there are new rumors relating to the charger and docking station of the new Nintendo console.
The rumors, which were originally spread by the X user Necrolipe and are now being discussed in the Famiboards forum, refer to data exchanged between factories and assembly plants. According to this information, the new Nintendo console could have a 60 W charger. The current Switch (available on Amazon for $295) uses a 36-watt charger, whereby a maximum of 19 watts is actually available for the system. If Nintendo opts for GaN technology here, the Swich successor could not only achieve higher clock rates with a 60 W charger, but also have a fast-charging function.
Rumors of a cooler in the docking station confirmed
As early as July, rumors emerged suggesting that the fan of the new Nintendo console could be located in the dock. The console is said to clock at 1.2 gigahertz in dock mode and be able to play games in 4K quality in conjunction with upscaling technologies. This would mean high power dissipation and require more powerful cooling. The new rumors confirm this assumption. According to the leaked delivery data, the fan is slightly smaller than before, which speaks in favor of placing it in the docking station. In handheld mode, however, the Swich 2 would then have to manage without cooling.
