Cyberpunk 2077 sees up to a 40% performance boost with new optimized path tracing mod
One of the standout features of Cyberpunk 2077 is path tracing, but it can put a heavy toll on performance. Even systems with reasonably capable graphics cards, such as the RTX 4080 (Gigabyte AERO OC curr. $949.99 on Amazon), struggle to offer a stable 60 FPS with all things maxed out at 4K.
The good news is that path tracing gameplay has seen a noticeable performance boost with the latest Ultra Plus Engine Control Panel mod. More specifically, with the 5.0 version of the mod, it's possible to get up to 40% better performance at 4K resolution.
This mod optimizes path tracing without impacting the visual quality too much, enabling Cyberpunk 2077 to run smoothly in 4K. As showcased by MxBenchmarkPC on YouTube, it's possible to run the game at almost 60 FPS with Nvidia DLSS 3.7 in the Balanced mode.
Nvidia DLSS 3 Frame Generation can further smooth out the performance and make the path tracing experience more enjoyable with Ultra settings. Of course, it's worth noting that the benchmark by MxBenchmarkPC is on a rig with Nvidia RTX 4080. The mod should deliver even better performance on a system featuring the top-of-the-line RTX 4090.
