Nintendo is expected to launch the Switch 2 sometime before April 2024, but a new Lite variant is likely a few years away. As for the current Switch Lite, the new SUPER5 OLED mod has just offered it an unofficial screen upgrade.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be revealed before April 2024, and so far, leaks have detailed a good number of aspects of the upcoming gaming handheld. Even if the successor does land next year, considering the previous hardware refresh cycle, a new Lite may be years away.

For reference, Nintendo launched the original model in 2017 and the Lite in 2019. However, if you currently own a Switch Lite, you can give it a screen upgrade through the SUPER5 OLED mod. This DIY kit will be available starting September 26, and it will let you enjoy what the top-end variant of the gaming handheld offers.

At the core, the SUPER5 OLED mod for Nintendo Switch Lite will add a brighter and more vibrant screen than the one that the gaming handheld comes with. As a matter of fact, the manufacturer of the kit states that the mod's display is better than the one Switch OLED comes with.

More specifically, the display of the SUPER5 OLED kit has a brightness rating of 600 nits, 150% sRGB color coverage, and a contrast ratio of 600,000:1. To compare, the screen of the Nintendo Switch OLED has a brightness rating of 340 nits, 130% sRGB color coverage, and 340,000:1 contrast ratio.

The difference is even more noticeable when compared to the TFT screen of the Nintendo Switch Lite (available on Amazon). Another big highlight of this mod is that it needs no shell modifications or soldering. This means you should be able to get the OLED screen fitted into the gaming handheld without facing major complications.

As for the price, several bundles will be available for this OLED kit at varying tags. The standalone option will cost $49.99, but during the introductory phase, you can get it at $44.99 with the coupon code "RemakeDoes10."
