Anbernic RG408: Unusual retro gaming handheld spotted with two displays
Anbernic has released numerous gaming handhelds this year. However, a recent leak by NITTRX suggests that the company could soon have something more unusual in order. Please note that the YouTuber reports that 'nothing is confirmed yet'. Thus, there is a chance that the design presented below may not see the light of day.
Allegedly though, Anbernic is developing a gaming handheld with two displays, the larger of which can be slid up to reveal the smaller of the two. As the image below implies, these displays would output at 960 x 720 pixels and 640 x 480 pixels, which both correlate with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Additionally, the device has the usual set of action buttons and a moderately sized d-pad.
Moreover, the so-called RG408 has a pair of analog sticks that can be rotated to reveal select and start buttons. Unfortunately, a release date for the RG408 remains unknown for now. Instead, Anbernic has just released new versions of the RG35XX SP, as well as an entirely new device called the RG406V. Added to that, the company may be preparing to release a set of wireless controllers that borrow directly from the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C (curr. $29.99 on Amazon).
