Anbernic RG CubeXX now official with new wireless controllers also shown
Anbernic has had a rather quiet start to the month, at least by its standards. To recap, the company's last release was the RG406V (curr. $234.98 on Amazon) in mid-September. Since then though, there have been plenty of rumours about upcoming Anbernic products, whether that be new wireless controllers, the RG408, RG406P or a spin-off of the RG Cube.
Now, at least two of those products are official. Specifically, Anbernic has revealed not only a new version of the RG Cube but also a set of wireless controllers. Please note that it has only shared details about the former for now. However, the latter can be spotted at around 3:30 in the video embedded below and bear a striking resemblance to 8BitDo's Ultimate 2C, as a recent leak suggested.
Based on Anbernic's description linked to the same video, it seems as though the RG CubeXX may have more in common with recent RG35XX series releases than its namesake. Although it has not confirmed as much yet, the suggestion that the RG CubeXX will be powerful enough to emulate Dreamcast, N64 and PS1 games implies that the device will use the same Allwinner H700 chipset as the RG35XX SP. Conversely, Anbernic has decided to equip it with a 3.95-inch square display with a 720p resolution and a 1:1 aspect ratio. On top of that, the RG CubeXX will sport 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, RGB lighting around its joysticks and HDMI output. While Anbernic has not confirmed pricing or availability yet, we suspect it will do so later this month.
