The team behind the SUPER5 OLED display kit for the Switch Lite has announced an even brighter alternative intended for the regular Switch. Allegedly, it will allow Switch LCD or Switch OLED owners to swap in a much brighter OLED panel that peaks at well beyond 1,000 nits.

Not too much time has passed since Taki Udon started selling SUPER5 OLED panels for the Switch Lite (curr. $179.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, the YouTuber has now revealed plans for a successor, which he refers to as SUPER7, rather than SUPER6.

For context, the SUPER5 OLED is said to achieve a maximum brightness of 600 nits, which is over 76% brighter than the Switch OLED's peak of 340 nits. Added to that, the SUPER OLED delivers 150% sRGB colour space coverage and a 600,000:1 contrast ratio compared to 130% sRGB and a 340,000:1 contrast ratio for an unmodded Switch OLED.

According to Udon, the SUPER7 surpasses the SUPER5 by an even wider margin than the SUPER5 does when compared to the Switch OLED's display. Allegedly, the SUPER7 OLED offers up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, a representation of which we have reproduced below. As far as we can tell, the SUPER7 will only be available for V1 and V2 Switch consoles, rather than the smaller Switch Lite. Unfortunately, Udon has not revealed any other details yet, apart from hinting at a SUPER7 IPS upgrade panel also being in the works.
