Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed Mirage Steam Deck compatibility
Ubisoft will be making Assassin's Creed Mirage available on Steam on October 17. With this announcement, the company has also confirmed Steam Deck compatibility for the game. It will be categorized as "Unknown" at launch, which will later change to "Playable."
On Steam, Assassin's Creed Mirage will have 50 in-game achievements, which players can unlock by completing missions, performing specific tasks, or ranking up. Ubisoft also says that it is working to bring its new releases to the platform on day one.
That means Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows will likely launch on Steam, alongside the official store and Epic Games Store. However, despite Mirage being available on the platform, players will still need to install a first-party launcher called UbiConnect to play the game. This requirement isn't something that many gamers will appreciate.
As for how well the game will run, Assassin's Creed Mirage runs reasonably well on a system with the Radeon 760M, which offers comparable performance to Steam Deck's iGPU. So, the gaming handheld should be able to deliver a decent experience.
It's worth noting that the 2017 entry to the series, Assassin's Creed Origins, also had Steam Deck support. However, later updates made the game less playable on the gaming handheld (Legion Go curr. $529.99 on Amazon). Hopefully, the same won't happen with Mirage.
