Two indie games are currently available on Steam with a 100 percent discount. However, gamers need to be quick. The first offer ends on October 12, the second on the following day.

While the Epic Games Store offers a free game every week, Steam only provides free games occasionally. This makes it all the more pleasing that two titles are currently being given away. Even though both are lesser-known indie games, gamers are typically eager to add any free new additions to their Steam library.

Minimalism

Minimalism is a 2D platformer with a very minimalist graphic style. Players control a square through stylized, abstract worlds consisting only of geometric shapes. Numerous obstacles have to be overcome in the tried-and-tested platform game style. The design of the game is deliberately kept simple and dispenses with any unnecessary distractions so that players can fully immerse themselves in the puzzles.

Minimalism, a game released by PixelMouse in 2017, is normally priced at $1 on Steam. However, it's available for free until October 12 at 5 PM (UTC). Nevertheless, the platformer harbors a certain potential for frustration, which is why the rating average on Steam of 72 percent (around 2,260 ratings) is only "mostly positive".

Castle Break

Castle Break is an arcade game that belongs to the breakout genre. Players have to destroy enemy towers while defending their own base. They use their mouse like an air field hockey stick to hit back enemy projectiles. As the levels progress, the challenge intensifies, with the blend of skill and strategy being the key to the game's appeal.

The game, released by Pauloondra in 2019, has received a very positive reception from the few players who have reviewed it. On Steam, Castle Break currently has 89 percent positive opinions from around 180 reviews. Until October 13 at 5 pm (UTC), the game is available on Steam for $0 instead of $5.
