Asus announced the TUF Gaming A14 at Computex 2024 with the latest Zen 5 Ryzen AI 9 APUs and up to an RTX 4060 laptop GPU. As such, the notebook promises blazing-fast CPU and mid-range graphics performance. Coupled with a 14-inch QHD+ display, the Asus TUF Gaming A14 aims to be a travel-friendly gaming laptop that doesn’t compromise on power.

Unfortunately, the inclusion of the new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and other powerful internal means that the TUF Gaming A14 can be out of some people’s budget at a full retail price of $1,499.

Thankfully, Walmart has now taken $150 off of the retail price of the TUF Gaming A14 and you can buy the machine for only $1,349.

In our review of the Asus TUF Gaming A14 (FA401), we argued that the main selling points of the laptop are its praiseworthy construction, excellent CPU performance, two M.2 slots, and good input devices.

Looking at the performance, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 makes the Asus TUF Gaming A14 one of the fastest 14-inch laptops currently on the market with a CPU Performance Rating of 85 pt. So, the laptop will handle even the most demanding tasks with ease.

Additionally, the combination of the 100 W RTX 4060 laptop and the Strix Point CPU also results in rock-solid gaming performance, especially in “Turbo” mode. Our testing revealed that the RTX 4060 on offer is only 5% behind the desktop variant and, as such, delivers more than 60 FPS at FHD/ultra in games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 2.1.

The games should also look good on the 14-inch QHD+ panel that boasts 94% coverage of the sRGB gamut, a 165 Hz refresh rate, and 430 nits of brightness. Sadly, the display is not really suitable for HDR media playback and content creation.

Finally, even though the Asus TUF Gaming A14 is a portable 14-incher with power-hungry internals, it lasted a respectable 7 hours in our WLAN test.
