Google may have inadvertently revealed a key component of the Samsung Galaxy S25. A blog post listing references Samsung mobile phones powered by a flagship MediaTek chip, tacitly suggesting the Galaxy S25 could be powered by a Dimensity 9400.

Samsung has signaled it has no qualms using high-end MediaTek hardware with the Galaxy Tab S10 series. Previous rumours indicated the collaboration could extend to flagship smartphones, with the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ tipped to launch with a Dimensity 9400. We now get a tacit confirmation from an unlikely source: a blog post on Google DeepMind's website. It says:

For example, MediaTek, one of the top chip design companies in the world, extended AlphaChip to accelerate development of their most advanced chips — like the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung mobile phones — while improving power, performance and chip area.

At first glance, one would be right to dismiss the statement because Samsung often uses Dimensity chips in mid-range smartphones, but the statement explicitly mentions "Flagship". Plus, "mobile phones" rules out any possibility of the statement referring to tablets. Therefore, one can reasonably conclude at least one Galaxy S25 variant will launch with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400.

Plus, there have been murmurs online about Samsung's last-minute pivot to MediaTek after reports of sub-par Exynos 2500 yields surfaced earlier this year. A recent Geekbench listing already confirmed the Galaxy S25 Ultra would come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy, and looking at both chip's performance so far, non-Ultra buyers should get an equivalent, or maybe even a superior experience.
