Zuiki has revealed its Evotop ultra-wideband wireless game controller at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show. The controller utilizes a UWB dongle for lower latency than Bluetooth connections. Gamers can use the touch touch display to select settings without a PC app.

Zuiki has teased its Evotop ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless game controller at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show (TGS). By using a UWB dongle, the controller has much lower latency than Bluetooth controllers. The controller transmits over the 7.25 GHz to 9.0 GHz frequencies, making it far more resilient to interference from nearby Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices operating in the 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz frequencies. Zuiki suggests the controller has a very low latency similar to a wired game controller.

Both black and white Evotop models were shown at the TGS. The controller grips are wrapped in synthetic leather for better grip during intense gameplay. The body is made of aramid fibers, which are the same used in modern body armor for its strength. The D-Pad and rear buttons are made of metal. A Turbo-Z button near the XYAB buttons activates continuous fire, reducing the strain on fingers while playing shooting games.

Unlike other common game controllers, gamers can use the built-in touch display to select settings and recall profiles on the Evotop without resorting to a PC app. The controller charges using any USB-C power source.

The release date and pricing of the Evotop have not been revealed. Readers with a broken controller who need a replacement ASAP can pick up an inexpensive Abxylute wireless controller from Amazon while waiting for the Evotop launch.

EVOTOP

"EVOLUTION×TOP=The pinnacle of evolution"

October 8, 2024

Zuiki Co., Ltd.

Zuiki Co., Ltd. (4-4-2 Minato Mirai, Yokohama-ku, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Seihiro Kure) is pleased to announce the release of additional information on the new controller "EVOTOP", which was exhibited as a reference at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 (TGS 2024) held on September 26~29, 2024.

"EVOTOP" means "EVOLUTION×TOP = EVOLUTION TOP".

With an evolved controller with a variety of features that have never been seen before, we will introduce four features that will bring players the best experience ever.

* This screen is under development. It may differ in the product version.

1. High-end, high-performance controller that combines three materials

The main frame of this chassis is made of aramid fiber, the grip is faux leather (synthetic leather), and the cross button and back paddle are metal, making it a high-performance controller that combines high durability and grip.

* Aramid fiber is one of the highly durable fibers used in body armor and blade-proof vests.

* Other colors will be announced in detail later.

2. New wireless communication technology achieves latency as close to zero as possible

The controller is equipped with the first ultra-wideband wireless communication technology called UWB (Ultra Wide Band).

The frequency bands of UWB are 3.4~4.8GHz (low-band) and 7.25~10.25GHz (high-band) in the microwave band, and 24.25~29GHz in the quasi-millimeter-wave band.

It is a next-generation communication system that is currently attracting attention, as it has already penetrated into familiar objects such as car keys, anti-loss tags that can search for locations, and in-vehicle radars for collision prevention.

The UWB installed in the controller adopts a high-band 7.25-9.0GHz, and by taking advantage of "high-precision ranging and positioning" and "low interference with other communications", it delivers a stress-free gaming experience with lower latency than Bluetooth and a speed close to that of a wired connection.

* If you are interested in product development that incorporates UWB technology, please contact our office.

3. Equipped with a high-resolution touch panel monitor

It uses a high-resolution touch panel monitor, which makes it possible to intuitively operate the controller settings without using a PC.

4. Turbo-Z button to accelerate the gaming experience

By using the Turbo-Z button, you can smoothly deploy button fire during the game, and you can further expand the range of gameplay. It is also easy to register the continuous fire button, and it is designed so that you can change it without stress while playing.
