Razer Lake-S codename leaked as potential future desktop CPU series
The LGA-1851 socket was originally set to launch with Meteor Lake-S, which has now been scrapped altogether. Instead, Intel is kicking things off with Arrow Lake-S as the first product next month. They’re putting their energy into powering laptops and mini PCs with this new architecture. On top of that, Intel has also decided to cancel plans for a refresh on Arrow Lake-S, which was supposed to introduce some small tweaks to the NPU and clock speeds.
A word from the grapevine—thanks to a leaker named HXL—is that Nova Lake-S's successor is Razer Lake-S. Industry insider BionicSquash backs this up, hinting that Intel's desktop CPU game plan might be changing.
Details are pretty thin for now, but it looks like Nova Lake-S could actually be the chip using that LGA-1851 socket, flipping the script on earlier rumors. But don't get too excited; it sounds like the updates might not be as big as everyone thought.
Intel hasn't laid out any formal plans for their desktop CPU architecture. They seem to be shifting their focus more towards mobile platforms, especially with the Lunar Lake and Panther Lake chips on the way. Plus, they've been pretty mum about any updates to their discrete GPU plans.
All these shifts in Intel's product strategy show that they're prioritizing mobile computing more these days. As personal computing keeps changing, Intel's moves are surely going to shake things up in the industry and affect what choices folks have.
