Intel tipped to bring back on-package memory with future laptop chips

Previous leaks suggested Intel would show off its Razor Lake architecture sometime in 2027, likely after Nova Lake has been out and about for a while. Little is known about its laptop equivalent, but if a new leak from X is accurate, it might mirror Lunar Lake in one key aspect.
Noted X leaker @Haze2K1 says Razor Lake-AX will come with on-package memory. On the one hand, it will limit the amount of memory OEMs can offer in Razor Lake-AX laptops, but on the plus side, it should result in noticeable performance gains—especially when paired with a powerful iGPU. Panther Lake’s 12 Xe iGPU punched well above its weight class, and its next-gen counterpart will undoubtedly do better on-package memory.
If true, Razor Lake-AX should compete with AMD’s Medusa Halo lineup, scheduled to show up at around the same time. There’s conflicting information about its CPU layout. One leak says Razor (and by extension Razor Lake-AX) could launch withGriffin Cove P-cores and Golden Eagle E-cores. Another one insists Intel is ditching P/E/LPE cores and switching to a single unified core, with power allocation as the differentiator.
