Lenovo releases new 16-inch laptop in North America with LPCAMM2 RAM and Intel Panther Lake
Last week, Lenovo released the ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 globally with Intel Lunar Lake processors as an alternative to the Arrow Lake models it already sells (curr. $1,199 on Amazon). Now, the company has returned to the ThinkPad T16 series again with North American and Australian releases for the ThinkPad T16 Gen 5.
To recap, Lenovo announced the ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 in March during MWC 2026. However, it waited until the end of April before releasing the ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 in Europe. As we discussed at the time, Lenovo kicked off the laptop's global launch by offering AMD and Intel-powered models simultaneously.
That has not occurred in North America, though. Instead, Lenovo has restricted the ThinkPad T16 Gen 5's release there to a choice between four Intel Panther Lake processors. Currently, these range from the Core Ultra 5 325 to the Core Ultra 7 365 vPro, which Lenovo complements with a choice between 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM running at 8,533 MT/s.
Moreover, this hardware can be configured with up to a 2.8K OLED display. According to Lenovo, this panel has an anti-glare finish and peaks at 600 nits in HDR mode with a 30-120 Hz variable refresh rate (VRR). A Snapdragon X61 5G modem is optional too, as are 60 Wh or 75 Wh batteries. Pricing starts at $1,628 in the US, CAD 2,344 in Canada and AUD 2,520 in Australia.
