Devil May Cry Season 2 continues its alternate continuity while the original series, as well as the reboot, gets massively discounted on Steam.

It's a big day for Devil May Cry fans, new and old—not only did Season 2 of the new Devil May Cry Netflix series just go live worldwide, but the entire franchise is currently available for sale on Steam for 84% off. That's right: every mainline Devil May Cry game, from the original trilogy in the HD Collection to the DmC reboot and even Devil May Cry 5 can all be had for as low as $14.96 on Steam, right now up until May 25th.

While the reception to the Netflix series has been divided among longtime fans of the games, its success and boost to series sales has been undeniable, and Season 2 looks to be a major improvement in action and spectacle.

While Season 2 is much too fresh for me to give any kind of critical assessment at this time, my past coverage of Devil May Cry and stylish action games in general leans heavily toward endorsing the games. Fair warning: Devil May Cry 2 is the most critically-maligned of the series, followed shortly by DmC due to its perceived killing of the original series, but time has been a little kinder to both of those games.

The DmC reboot's gameplay has especially aged well, and may be a desirable jumping-on point for players not used to perpetually holding a lock-on bumper and mastering intricate movement tech. Core series techniques like Enemy Step/Jump Canceling, as well as real-time weapon switching for freeform air combos, are still alive and well in DmC, though.

Only time will tell how series fans take to the latest installment in the Devil May Cry Netflix series, but Devil May Cry games featuring Vergil tend to be the highest-rated, most-revisted entries in the franchise. If the Netflix series can live up to that hype, it may be able to soften the hearts of series veterans, or at least get a new generation of fans invested in Dante's ice-cold twin brother. For those of you interested in taking the plunge into either the Netflix series or the game franchise, links to both are embedded below.
