With an “Only on PS5” YouTube video, PlayStation is again emphasizing exclusive games. After a report that fewer PS5 games would launch on PC, Sony has gradually adjusted its marketing. Despite several disappointments, live-service titles will continue to embrace multiple platforms.

Sony has yet to confirm a new multi-platform strategy. In March, Bloomberg insider Jason Schreier revealed that single-player PS5 exclusive games would no longer come to PC. However, with an “Only on PS5” slogan, the company has tweaked its marketing, putting more focus on PlayStation consoles.

It Happens Only on PS5

A YouTube video highlights first-party games including God of War Laufey, Ghost of Yōtei, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Astro Bot. The voiceover says, “These moments don't happen anywhere else. So come and make the unthinkable happen. Only on PS5.” Text reading “PlayStation 5 Exclusive” appears throughout the promotion.

The latest ad evolves Sony’s ongoing “It Happens on PS5” marketing campaign, which launched in November 2025. Yet the wording change implies these experiences will be locked to PlayStation consoles. That’s bad news for PC users expecting narrative-driven ports to arrive on Steam eventually.

Bloomberg’s Schreier leaked that Ghost of Yotei and Saros were among the first victims of the new approach. Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey also seem likely to remain PS5 exclusives. Even so, in June, PlayStation CEO Hideaki Nishino explained that live-service projects will continue to ship on multiple platforms.

The live-service exception

SIE releases like Helldivers 2 benefit from a larger player base, but Sony’s support for live-service titles has drawn criticism. After Concord fell flat, the Bungie-developed Marathon hasn’t met expectations. More recently, Horizon Hunters Gathering is reportedly in flux following a poorly received playtest. The PC port of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has also struggled.

Wolverine or a future Spider-Man title may be more popular on Steam than previous multiplayer failures. Nevertheless, as the PS6 release date approaches, buyers need a reason to adopt the pricey system.

Fans could see more exclusives on the next console but not in the physical game format. Dropping disc production in early 2028 benefits the PS Store and keeps more consumers tied to the PlayStation ecosystem. The move back to exclusivity is another way to lure shoppers away from a Windows-based Project Helix.
