Sony confirms 2 PlayStation State of Play presentations for this week

Sony has made a surprise announcement: two State of Play showcases will premiere this week on September 3. Both will premiere side-by-side, with the standard State of Play being immediately followed by State of Play Japan, which will be hosted by Yuki Kaji, the famous voice actor from Attack on Titan. The showcases will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch this Thursday, starting at 6:00 am PT / 9:00 am ET / 3:00 pm CEST / 10:00 pm JST.
"Updates and announcements" expected en masse
As per Sony’s official statement, the first State of Play will be “featuring updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners, concluding with an extended look at the vast world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation from our friends at Square Enix.”
As for State of Play Japan, Sony states it “will offer deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more.” State of Play Japan will air in Japanese, with English subtitles available.
Aside from Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Sony has not mentioned any other titles so far. However, from the recent social media posts that have appeared across the timelines of many gamers, it is safe to assume that Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is going to make an appearance. Ever since the game’s reveal at the Game Awards 2024, there has been little information about the game.
A focus on Final Fantasy with fans keen on more Wolverine gameplay
Another prospect at the showcase could be Insomniac Games’ upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine. Fans might get a more in-depth look at the game before its September 15 launch. And although Final Fantasy VII Revelation revealed some details at Gamescom Opening Night, it seems Square Enix has something more for fans.
Since no time frame has been specified for the showcase, fans should expect several new announcements and in-depth looks at other recently announced titles.
