Sony's upcoming budget headphones rumored to launch on September 7

Leaker Roland Quandt has revealed new details about Sony's upcoming budget wireless headphones in a recent post on Bluesky. According to the leak, the highly anticipated Sony WH-CH730N and the entry-level WH-CH530 are expected to become available as early as September 7, bringing significant price adjustments to the company's affordable audio lineup.

The mid-range Sony WH-CH730N will succeed the WH-CH720N, which originally launched in early 2023 for €149 (curr. $97 on Amazon). Surprisingly, the new leak indicates Sony is aggressively targeting the budget market with a suggested retail price of just €70 for the new model. The headphones will retain Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and core connectivity features, including Bluetooth, a 3.5mm audio jack for wired listening, and a USB Type-C charging interface.

The new headset will weigh 220 grams, a 14.58 percent increase over its predecessor's 192 grams. Quandt notes the WH-CH730N will likely launch in four colorways: black, pink, blue, and sand, though the official marketing names may vary.

Sony is also preparing to update its ultra-budget tier with the WH-CH530. Expected to retail for just €35, this entry-level model skips premium features like ANC to keep costs at an absolute minimum. The leak suggests a wider, more vibrant palette for this headset, with five expected colors: black, blue, mint green, pink, and white.

These details update previous regulatory filings and earlier leaks, which initially pointed toward a mid-October release at higher price brackets. If Quandt's timeline holds, consumers looking for affordable, reliable wireless audio will not have to wait much longer.
