Leak: Sony’s affordable next-generation Bluetooth headphones will launch soon in many colors
The Sony WH-CH520 and the Sony WH-CH720N ($49.99 on Amazon) were officially unveiled in February 2023. Three and a half years later, the launch of the two successor models now appears to be imminent, as The Walkman Blog has already spotted the Sony WH-CH530 and the Sony WH-CH730N in an import-export database.
These database entries confirm that while both models are wireless stereo headsets, active noise cancellation (ANC) appears to be reserved for the more expensive model. Like the older WH-CH520, the Sony WH-CH530 is likely to be marketed as an affordable, ultra-lightweight on-ear headphone with long battery life. The database shows that this model will be available in at least six colors: white, black, pink, red, green, and blue.
Like the WH-CH720N before them, the Sony WH-CH730N are likely to be over-ear headphones that, thanks to their plastic housing, should not only be affordable but also relatively lightweight. The new model will apparently be available in at least five colors – white, black, pink, blue, and beige. So far, no details are known regarding the exact launch date, price, or new features of these two next-generation headphones.
Since the previous models already support Bluetooth Multipoint, an equalizer, and virtual surround sound, it’s conceivable that Sony will incorporate a more modern Bluetooth chip that supports Hi-Fi codecs such as Sony LDAC and Sony DSEE Extreme to enhance heavily compressed music.
