KEF unveils LS Luxe hi-fi speakers with coaxial driver, HDMI, and AirPlay
The brand-new KEF LS Luxe are positioned as a higher-end alternative to the popular KEF LS50 Wireless II ($2,999 on Amazon). For its new flagship wireless bookshelf speaker, KEF has opted for a more modern, heavily rounded design, available in three colors. The LS Luxe is intended to surpass the older LS50 models, particularly in terms of sound quality.
To this end, KEF has incorporated a larger 165-millimeter Uni-Q coaxial driver with an integrated 25-millimeter tweeter. While the woofer is powered by a Class D amplifier, KEF pairs the tweeter with a dedicated Class AB amplifier. KEF claims a frequency response of 42 Hz to 28 kHz. The sound can be customized to the user’s preferences using an equalizer. The KEF LS Luxe is set up and managed via the KEF Connect smartphone app.
Once the speakers are connected to the home network via Wi-Fi 6, they support music streaming via Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, and various internet radio and podcast services. Music can also be streamed to the speakers via Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, and Bluetooth 5.3, Roon is expected to be officially supported starting in 2027. Wired sources can also be connected via Coax, Toslink, HDMI eARC, and AUX. KEF allows you to connect two subwoofers at once. The USB-C port on the back can charge devices with up to 10 watts but does not support audio streaming.
Pricing and availability
The KEF LS Luxe is available in the manufacturer’s online store for $4,000 per pair, in a choice of white, beige, or black. The illuminated KEF C3 remote control is included.
