Transparent $89 music player with LED strip turns CDs into works of art
Not only have vinyl records and compact cassettes made a comeback in recent years, but CDs are also regaining popularity in the age of streaming. For this reason, Syitren, a company best known for its turntables, has now developed a new CD player featuring a completely transparent housing.
All of the electronics are mounted between two transparent acrylic panels. The metal hardware connecting these panels also serves as a stand or for wall mounting. The mainboard features an LED strip that indicates the progress of the current track, a dot-matrix display that can show settings and track numbers, and a battery indicator.
The CD player uses a standard 18650 rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2,000 mAh, which is designed to provide six to eight hours of runtime. Charging is handled via USB-C. The player, which measures 26 x 26 x 4.2 centimeters, does not have built-in speakers. Music can be played either through a 3.5 mm AUX jack or via Bluetooth 5.3.
Pricing and availability
The Syitren RM1 is currently being funded on Kickstarter. As part of the "Launch Special," the CD player costs $89, the retail price is expected to be twice as high. A bundle with the N200 speaker is available for $139. Syitren ships worldwide, with shipments beginning in October 2026. Prices do not include import sales tax, customs duties, or shipping costs. Syitren is already an established company, but crowdfunding campaigns still carry the risk that products may be delivered late or with defects.
