GTA 6: New leak eases one of fans’ biggest concerns

For years, fans have worried that GTA 6 could be considerably more restrained than its predecessors when it comes to dark humor and social satire. These concerns stem partly from the departure of Dan Houser, who was considered one of the studio’s most important creative minds. They were further fueled by a 2022 Bloomberg report, which claimed that Rockstar intended to take a more thoughtful approach to jokes involving marginalized groups and avoid “punching down.”

The latest gameplay leak now has fans breathing a sigh of relief. The roughly two-and-a-half-minute video, which incidentally also points to improved NPC behavior, shows Jason visiting a nudist camp at night, complete with a pool, bar and sauna. Numerous NPCs are partying there completely naked, while the typically crude and politically charged conversations can be heard in the background. Reddit user u/Lucky_Broccoli_384 is accordingly relieved. Violence, profanity, nudity and social satire all appear to still be present. Their conclusion: GTA 6 feels “It’s more GTA than ever!”

Many Redditors agree with this assessment and are pleased to see the biting NPC dialogue and signature Rockstar humor remain intact. However, not everyone understands the concern. Several users emphasize that taking a more thoughtful approach to minorities does not automatically mean less satire. Some point out that fears of a sanitized GTA were largely fueled by YouTubers looking to generate clicks through outrage and negative speculation in the first place.

However, the doubts have not disappeared entirely. Reddit user u/DeviceNo3619 notes that while the leaks show promising gameplay, they reveal very little about the quality of Grand Theft Auto VI’s (available for pre-order on Amazon) story. With several longtime writers having since left Rockstar, they believe the narrative could still fall short of expectations.
