GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look runtime confirmed, with trailer captured on base PS5

Hours before the GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look premieres, details about the showcase are emerging. Several gamers noticed that the streaming giant’s app now advertises 26 minutes as its runtime. In addition, a Netflix article hints that Rockstar recorded the supersized trailer on the base PS5, rather than the PS5 Pro.
Finally a definitive answer
In the weeks leading up to the event, speculation about its duration has been never-ending. Some fans asked Netflix support about the broadcast’s length, with one agent quoting 20 minutes. Then, information spotted in the app seemed to suggest it may be a 3-episode production.
Most recently, a BBC leak mentioned a 30-minute runtime for the GTA 6 Netflix special. As it turns out, that’s close to reality, but not entirely accurate. For an even more precise number, dataminer TexFunz2 found 26 minutes and 49 seconds hidden in the streaming service’s backend.
The other discovery comes from Tudum, Netflix's official companion site. An August 26th article explains that the showcase was “Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.” The statement is open to interpretation, but sources usually distinguish between the base system and the PS5 Pro.
Previous GTA 6 trailers represented what players can expect on the cheaper PlayStation console. Rockstar revealed that the second video, which debuted in May 2025, originated on the PS5. Sony later launched a marketing campaign promoting that the game “plays best” on the console.
Frame rates remain uncertain
It’s unclear what performance benefits like higher frame rates the PS5 Pro might offer, but the title is enhanced for the hardware. Regardless, advanced lighting effects spotted in the Netflix Extended Look should presumably be available on either machine.
Following a parade of GTA 6 leaks supplied by Cyberleek, Rockstar announced it would not delay the show. One advantage for viewers may be that the studio-approved footage will come from a glitch-free build. Even so, Cyberleek claimed the Lucia prologue video reflects a recent build and said the game may not be ready for its November release date.
The Netflix Extended Look trailer airs on August 27th at 3 PM/9 PM CEST. Immediately after, Rockstar will lift the embargo on media previews, then upload the video to its YouTube channel 6 hours later.
