While fans digest leaked gameplay videos, journalists may have already played GTA 6. Insider Gaming reports that Rockstar Games has finally let websites experience the title. One scenario is that previews appear after the Netflix Extended Look presentation airs on August 27th.

So far, the press has likely had little or no access to Rockstar’s latest project. However, if an Insider Gaming claim is true, the studio has begun hosting GTA 6 preview sessions. After the August 27th Netflix Extended Look, journalists may be permitted to share impressions.

Are previews a risk for Rockstar?

Insider Gaming discussed new leaks that include in-game footage of Jason driving and playing basketball. According to the site, “preview events for GTA 6 are underway, but it’s not clear if the alleged leak footage originates from the event.”

Most followers believe that the videos are from an earlier build, with insider NateTheHate confirming they are at least a year old. That would rule out recent press gatherings as the source of the clips.

It’s debatable what type of GTA 6 previews Rockstar would allow. Given the studio’s secretive nature, showing gameplay in one of its offices or another controlled setting makes the most sense. This arrangement is also far less likely to produce leaks than distributing a playable build to the media.

The summer marketing campaign hyped by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has yet to materialize. Even so, the GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look may signal a more intensive period of promotion. With the November 19th release date looming, fans are anxious for new trailers and screenshots. Gaming sites hope to play a bigger role in sharing these assets in the final months.

Pre-orders with limited information

The existing cinematic trailers don’t provide much insight into gameplay mechanics and features. Rumored changes include intelligent AI-powered NPCs and real-world social media integration. The Netflix special could answer some questions, although it isn't a substitute for hands-on previews.

Closer to the release date, how Rockstar handles reviews will become more of a focus. Previous leaks explained that candidates would be flown to an undisclosed location for playtests. Zelnick didn’t address the report, but stressed that reviews remain a critical aspect of the marketing cycle.
