As marketing ramps up before GTA 6 release date, Rockstar job ad seeks billboard artist

Gamers could see GTA 6 marketing take over major cities, with billboards turning heads. Rockstar Games is hunting for a production artist to design online and large-format print materials. The job listing surfaced as fans hope a third trailer will soon confirm no further release date delays.

Rockstar Games likely already has a marketing team preparing for the November 19th GTA 6 release date. Still, the studio is looking to add more talent, with a new LinkedIn job ad for a production artist. The employee would create a range of digital and print assets, including social media content and billboards.

Portuguese website Portal Viciados noticed the job listing, which appeared on May 1st. Rockstar is searching for a “highly skilled, meticulous Production Artist to join our Creative Services team on a temporary basis.” An in-person role in New York City, the description specifies the type of promotional materials prioritized.

Digital advertising on social media, websites, and other channels is one focus. However, so far, gamers haven’t seen any GTA 6 marketing featuring giant billboards. That could change, since the creator will design Traditional Out-of-Home (OOH) print materials. These productions often include large signage and murals.

Is it too late to hire new artists?

With a release date about 6 months away, it’s possible that the artist would work on post-launch materials. Consequently, the job ad isn’t an indicator that the promised marketing blitz will begin imminently. That said, in a recent Game File interview, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said the campaign would kick off “soon.”

The publisher should begin promoting the game more heavily this summer. The last GTA 6 trailer premiered in May 2025, with anticipation building for a third video. Gamers now know that Take-Two’s next earnings call is on May 21st. If a familiar pattern repeats, a new trailer could debut shortly before the call to excite investors and eliminate fears of another delay.

Zelnick also clarified what type of advertising the new production artist wouldn’t be involved with. Speaking to IGN, the CEO revealed that at least in-game, players won’t find product placement with real brands. Instead, many of Rockstar’s fictional food and automotive companies from past GTA games are returning.
