Best Buy leaks GTA 6 pre-order date, with price and trailer reveal possibly imminent

Gamers may have the most credible indication yet that GTA 6 pre-orders are opening soon. Several YouTubers and social media accounts have shared emails with details on a Best Buy affiliate promotion. If authentic, the leak implies that buyers will finally be able to reserve the Rockstar Games title on May 18th.
Did Best Buy make an enemy of Rockstar?
Frogboyx1Gaming was one of the first affiliates to post the email, which is quickly gaining attention. The campaign is called “GTA 6 Pre Order (Physical Game)” and runs from May 18th to May 21st. Partners of the retailer will receive a 5% commission on each boxed-copy sale.
To prove its authenticity, Frogboyx1Gaming is hosting a live stream to address skeptics' doubts. A prominent Australian content creator, TGG, also verified that he had a copy of the email. While it’s possible that Best Buy made an error, he denies that the leak is a widespread hoax.
There have been other signs that Rockstar would provide an update on the GTA 6 release date in the coming weeks. In recent interviews, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted that the company was about to step up its marketing efforts.
Giving gamers more hope, the PlayStation Store began encouraging PS4 owners to upgrade to the PS5 in time for November 19th. As a result, fans have grown cautiously optimistic that the game will not suffer another delay.
An anticipated earnings call
Take-Two hosts its next earnings call on May 21st, with investors expecting to hear news. Based on past history, one theory is that GTA 6 trailer #3 will premiere shortly before the report. That scenario makes sense if pre-orders did in fact commence on May 18th.
Of course, Rockstar could also soon put an end to debates about pricing. Unfortunately, the Best Buy communication doesn’t list an MSRP, but estimates have ranged from $70 to $ 100.
