Portable monitor with 165 Hz and 500 nits: Ugreen unveils AP16

Mobile monitors such as the Asus Zenscreen ($109 on Amazon) often only offer a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, a frame rate of 60 Hz and a brightness of 250 nits, not least to reduce costs and power consumption. Ugreen takes a different approach with the AP16 and apparently puts a high-quality laptop panel in a 6.5 millimeter thick, 928 gram metal housing.
An optional stand makes the screen heavier, but also more ergonomic, as it is held at a more comfortable height and the angle can be adjusted. The highlight, however, is the 16-inch IPS panel in 16:10 format, which is said to achieve a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a frame rate of 165 Hz and a brightness of 500 nits. Even the contrast ratio of 1,200:1 is very good by IPS standards, and the sRGB color space can be displayed in full.
The monitor has two USB-C ports and a mini-HDMI port. If the monitor is to be operated via a single USB-C port, this must provide at least 15 watts of power. If the second port is connected to a charger, the monitor can charge connected laptops with up to 60 watts.
Pricing and availability
The Ugreen AP16 mobile monitor will first be launched in China, where it will be available for 1,799 CNY ($265). The screen can already be imported via AliExpress, but then costs $484.
