At almost 1600 nits, the Lenovo Pro 9 16 Aura OLED display is one of the brightest money can buy

Display brightness on most budget to midrange laptops typically top out at 300 to 400 nits while higher-end models like the MacBook Pro 16 can go up to 600 nits. Running on battery power may sometimes automatically lower the brightness ceiling to conserve energy depending on the manufacturer for an even dimmer screen. It's very uncommon to see consumer laptops reach levels brighter than 600 nits on SDR mode let alone 1000 nits, but this only makes the recent Lenovo Pro 9 16 Aura that much more special.
According to our review of the aforementioned Lenovo, the model comes with one of the brightest displays on the market when configuring with the 3200 x 2000 tandem OLED touchscreen. Our independent measurements with an X-Rite colorimeter show a maximum brightness of 975 nits on SDR mode and 1480 nits on HDR mode which come close to the advertised claim of 1000 nits on SDR and 1600 nits on HDR. The extreme brightness levels give the Lenovo an edge when it comes to playing HDR content or when viewing outdoors.
Even more impressively, the model can maintain a maximum brightness of ~1000 nits when on battery power to be at least 2x brighter than most competitors. Of course, the minimum brightness level can still be set very low down to just 9 nits for when the high brightness levels are not needed.
If configured with the the lesser 2880 x 1800 panel, maximum brightness would drop lower to 500 nits on SDR mode and 1100 nits on HDR mode. Even so, the HDR viewing experience is still one of the best in the 16-inch multimedia category no matter the configuration.
