StarFighter finally available with 120 Hz 4K display, 64 GB RAM and open source firmware

Star Labs StarFighter was launched in 2022, but only very small numbers were actually delivered at the time. Delivery of the laptop in mass production was finally scheduled to begin in October 2025, but until now, buyers have had to wait several months from order to delivery. This has now finally changed.
Anyone who orders StarFighter today at the manufacturer's online store can expect delivery in one to two working days. The notebook is offered with numerous keyboard layouts. Coreboot is an open source firmware that gives users a lot of control over the behavior of the system, from the fan curve to the charging limit of the battery. Since the original announcement, Star Labs has modernized the processors used, but StarFighter is still expensive.
Because the basic model with Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD and a 16-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a frame rate of 165 Hz costs $1,878. If you want a faster Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, 64 GB RAM and a 120 Hz 4K display, you will have to pay $2,843. An otherwise identically equipped version with AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS is even more expensive at $3,573.
Regardless of the display selected, it always achieves a reasonable brightness of 625 nits. StarFighter offers space for two M.2 SSDs ($184 for 1 TB on Amazon), a backlit keyboard, a haptic trackpad and a 1,080p webcam that can be removed to protect privacy. The 80 Wh battery should provide a battery life of up to 18 hours.
