Lenovo releases new affordable 15-inch gaming laptop globally with 115 W GPUs

Over four months have passed since Lenovo unveiled a new 15-inch gaming laptop. Despite reaching Europe in late January, it has taken a few months longer for the LOQ 15 (15APH11) to reach other markets like Australia and North America. Nonetheless, the laptop can be picked up starting at at $1,599 in the US, CAD 2,089 in Canada and AUD 2,339 in Australia.
In short, the Gen 11 model retains the AMD Hawk Point and Nvidia Blackwell architectures that Lenovo used in its Gen 10 predecessor that we reviewed almost a year ago (curr. $1,169 on Amazon). However, Lenovo has boosted the Total Graphics Power (TGP) of the LOQ 15's GPUs by 15% from 100 W to 115 W.
Additionally, the LOQ 15 (15APH11) comes exclusively with the Ryzen 7 250, an 8-core Zen 5 processor with 16 threads and a 28 W TDP. Also, Lenovo equips the LOQ 15 with a USB4 (40 Gbps) port this year instead of the USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C (10 Gbps) equivalent in last year's model. Likewise, one of the laptop's three Type-A ports now meets the USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard. USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps) ports return on the LOQ 15's left and right-hand sides, though.
Unfortunately, Lenovo has ditched the optional 80 Wh battery from the Gen 10 edition. As a result, the LOQ 15 (15APH11) can only be configured with a 60 Wh battery. The Gen 11 models also adopt 16:10 displays, though only a 1200p, 300-nit, 165 Hz IPS panel is available for the time being. According to Lenovo's PSREF page, a 1600p, 400-nit and 180 Hz IPS panel is planned.
For reference, the laptop now costs £1,369 in the UK but €1,589 in the Eurozone. Currently, Lenovo offers the LOQ 15 (15AHP11) with the GeForce RTX 5050 or GeForce RTX 5060 in Australia and Canada, but not in the US. At the time of publication, the GeForce RTX 5060 is a CAD 125 (~$91) upgrade in Canada and an AUD 330 (~$29) upgrade in Australia, including a jump from 512 GB to 1 TB of storage.
