Insider predicts August GTA 6 trailer, with marketing to start 3 months before release date

The latest Take-Two Interactive earnings report confirmed no change in the GTA 6 release date. CEO Strauss Zelnick also revealed that marketing would begin in the Summer, ahead of its November 19th debut. However, fans hoping for a third trailer in June may end up disappointed. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson believes August is a more likely possibility for major news.

Henderson shared his thoughts on a recent podcast, discussing Take-Two and Rockstar Games’ promotional efforts. The insider explained, “I don't think we're going to see anything on GTA 6 until the first week of August.” The timing would roughly coincide with the publisher’s initial earnings call of the 2027 fiscal year.

The Editor-in-Chief expects Rockstar to shadow-drop the next GTA 6 trailer the “day before or the same day of the earnings call.” The previous video appeared in May 2025, shortly before Take-Two briefed investors. With shareholders always looking ahead, the update would produce a surge in interest.

The long wait for a new GTA 6 trailer continues

Some gamers were anticipating that the June 5th Summer Game Fest might feature the crime-themed adventure. Unfortunately, Henderson doesn’t think the title will take center stage at any third-party event. Instead, the publisher and developer will likely organize their own well-funded advertising.

With August three months before the GTA 6 release date, fans may wonder whether the game's marketing will start too late. Strauss Zelnick’s past comments on the topic don’t provide much clarity. Following the last delay in November 2025, he said, “We have to start marketing activities in a significant amount of time ahead of release.” On the other hand, more recently, the CEO narrowed the window to “pretty close to release.”

Regardless of when buyers finally see more of Leonida, the game is poised to shatter sales records. Some projections estimate over 40 million copies sold in its first year on the market. As noted on the Insider Gaming podcast, hype levels are off the charts, with many PS5 and Xbox owners already committed to purchases.
