The supposed GTA 6 gameplay leaks currently making the rounds were actually AI–generated deepfakes, shared by a self–proclaimed leaker on TikTok and X. After the video amassed millions of views, the account holder admitted it was all part of a “social experiment.”

Right now, GTA fans are like a pack of starving wolves. After years without real updates – and with the game’s release now pushed back to November 19, 2026 – the community is desperate for any scrap of news. Every leak, no matter how minor, feels like a feast, and fans can’t help but dive in. Dan Houser once commented on this kind of “hunting fever” – and it is exactly what one alleged leaker tried to exploit. He shared a video, first on TikTok and later on X, claiming it showed protagonist Lucia in a stunningly lifelike open world, complete with dynamic weather, highly detailed NPCs, and visuals that seemed to outshine anything Rockstar has revealed so far.

Within 24 hours, the clip racked up more than 8 million views on X. But as it turns out, the supposed GTA 6 gameplay was not real – and has nothing to do with the upcoming title, which is also set to release on the Nintendo Switch 2. The footage was entirely AI–generated. After users began questioning its authenticity, the alleged leaker, known as “Zap Actu GTA6,” admitted on his X account that the video was a deepfake. He apologized to fans for the deception, calling it a “social experiment,” a “big joke,” and an attempt to highlight “how easily AI content can be mistaken for the real thing in 2025.” According to Kotaku, he also claimed he never expected the post to gain so much attention. The video has since been taken down.

Despite the apology, many fans remain skeptical. The account in question has been posting GTA–related content for years, making the leaker’s claimed surprise at the video’s massive reach seem less convincing. On top of that, the clips were so polished and technically refined that they immediately raised doubts – especially when compared to the 2022 leak, which featured debug menus and unfinished models. It is also worth noting that the “Zap Actu GTA6” X account likely meets the platform’s monetization criteria, suggesting possible financial motives, even though the leaker denies any such intent.
