Rockstar Games developers resist engaging the media or fans on social media. Nevertheless, an artist cautioned a Bloomberg writer against reporting further GTA 6 leaks. Jason Schreier spoiled the studio’s announcement of the first trailer before publishing other protected information.

With Rockstar Games desperate to avoid GTA 6 leaks, it’s rare for a developer to make public comments. However, on social media, lead character artist Saikat Koley issued a warning to a well-known journalist. He directed his ire at Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who revealed the release date of the title’s first trailer in November 2023.

Not only Rockstar executives fear leaks

Koley’s deleted response was visible long enough to draw attention. An account that follows the game posted a picture of Schreier, asking the insider for news. The artist replied, “Nah. We don’t want him snooping to our company and project.”

GTA Boom sheds light on why there may be tension between the developer and writer. The Bloomberg author is responsible for an infamous GTA 6 leak on November 8th, 2023. He was the first to tell fans that a trailer would debut in early December. Just hours later, Rockstar confirmed the timing for the massively watched video.

A rumor soon spread that Rockstar Games President Sam Houser was angry enough to consider delaying the announcement. While that didn’t happen, Schreier would continue to divulge sensitive information.

The GTA 6 release date has been the focus of many insiders who share updates on the game. In January 2026, the journalist caused some panic when he called the project “not content complete” on a podcast. He would later clarify that the current November 19th date was still realistic.

Why is Rockstar targeting Schreier?

Schreier isn’t the only source of leaks that could disrupt the studio’s plans. Even so, he works for an outlet that extensively vets stories before publication. Developing trust with readers through previous articles at Kotaku, the industry also pays attention to his reporting.

Predictably, reactions to Koley’s unusual criticism are mixed on social media. Some fans believe that leaks spoil the anticipation for official news and upend calculated marketing. Others find the secrecy surrounding the title frustrating and appreciate any hints about a GTA 6 release date delay or third trailer.
