A known leaker has suggested that those waiting to play GTA 6 on PC will not have to wait a whole year or two. The PC version of the game could come out shortly after the console version releases in November this year.

If everything goes as planned, GTA 6 will release on November 19 on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. That’s how Rockstar likes to do GTA launches typically, with consoles getting the game first and PC following about a year or two later. This time around, it looks like the PC release could happen much sooner, at least according to a known leaker.

For reference, GTA 4 released on consoles in April 2008 and for PC in December the same year. GTA 5 extended that gap with a console release in September 2013 and a PC release a year and a half later in April 2015. Similarly, with Red Dead Redemption 2, the console launch was in October 2018 while the PC launch was in November 2019. The theory is that it takes longer to optimize a game of this scale on PC, thus the extended release timeline. With GTA 6, leaker Detective Seeds claims the PC launch will happen just three months after the console launch, in February of 2027.

With a post on X, the leaker shared that after trying to contact over 90 people who worked at Rockstar and only three getting back to him, the studio is aiming for a February 2027 release for the PC version. Commenters are skeptical about this claim but the leaker believes that the Christmas sale spike on consoles will be sufficient to warrant a shorter release gap. He adds that parent company Take-Two, as well as Rockstar themselves, want to release the PC version before end of the fiscal year, ending with March 2027.

Did the delays help GTA 6 PC?

Besides the need for more optimizations, a major reason for Take-Two to stagger PC and console launches is to capitalize on as many sales on console as possible, with the expectation that some of these players will also purchase the game on PC a year or two later, thereby getting another sales spike with the PC launch. Because of this, it’s surprising to see the release gap being reduce to only three months. It could be that because of the two delays that have already happened, Rockstar has had sufficient time to optimize for PC. Moreover, the developers seem to be confident that there won't be any more delays.

If this turns out to be true, GTA fans will have a ball starting this November, with the game releasing on the 19th, GTA Online supposedly releasing a month later, and then GTA 6 PC releasing just two months after with presumably improved visuals, among other perks.
