Take-Two has gone after unofficial productions before, with a recreation of Vice City an early victim in March 2025. The clips showcased the two characters engaged in various activities like shopping or riding scooters. Harnessing the power of generative AI, they were realistic enough to be mistaken for authentic leaks. Suddenly, the videos disappeared, with a message explaining that they were “disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.”
Despite the deletions, similar footage of Lucia and Jason remains accessible on the channel. Why these selections survived is unclear, but with AI, the criteria for copyright infringement are often muddled. If Rockstar or Take-Two believes that the author used assets or logos with minimal edits, it’s likely to act. Titles are also a factor, with other examples leading fans to think GTA 6 trailer #3 has arrived.

Some Redditors who are desperate for marketing efforts to resume are encouraged by the DMCA strikes. The studio could be clearing the way for an anticipated cinematic. When a new trailer appears, imitations that don't reflect the final build threaten to cause mass confusion.

Besides hearing sales projections, there has been a pattern of trailers surfacing shortly before or on the day of these meetings.
