Take-Two CEO reconfirms "planned" GTA 6 release date, but stresses strong GTA Online sales

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has updated shareholders about the publisher’s performance. The executive reconfirmed the GTA 6 release date, although his language didn’t completely rule out a delay. Regardless of when the new Rockstar game launches, GTA Online continues to generate strong sales.
Lofty projections
Zelnick’s letter to shareholders prepares attendees for the September 17th annual meeting. He teases that “Fiscal year 2027 has the potential to be a major inflection point” for the company, with “groundbreaking entertainment experiences” anticipated. The planned GTA 6 release date on November 19th is expected to be the leading driver of revenue.
The word "planned” may give anxious fans pause. Yet, as iGrandTheftAuto.com noted, CEOs are cautious in statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). While the lack of a third trailer and a slow marketing push is frustrating, there is no evidence of a change in schedule.
If there is an unlikely delay, Take-Two and Rockstar can rely on the consistency of GTA Online. The letter explains that it continues “to outpace expectations significantly.” Zelnick identified the December 2025 A Safehouse in the Hills as one of the most successful updates. The GTA+ subscription service is also steadily growing its member count.
In total, the executive projects that operating cash flow will exceed $1 billion in FY 2027, funding future investments. There is no mention of how lucrative GTA 6 pre-orders have been so far. However, stockholders could hear the first official figures during Two-Take’s August 7th earnings call.
The marketing lull continues
Based on past earnings calls, there is a chance that a trailer will debut shortly before the gathering. The unusual early Friday-morning timing has sparked speculation about a major announcement.
Zelnick also didn’t comment on when a GTA 6 online mode might launch. The GTA 5 multiplayer option will likely survive after the upcoming title’s release date arrives. Still, subscriptions or in-game purchases will be vital to long-term sales.
