Is this the start of the GTA 6 marketing push? Take-Two CEO gives street interview

While Rockstar Games remains silent, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has been surprisingly open. In a video currently circulating on social media, Zelnick takes part in a “How did you get so rich?” street interview – a format many will likely recognize from YouTube Shorts and TikTok. The video was published by “School of Hard Knocks”, a YouTube channel that interviews wealthy individuals and has more than 2 million subscribers. On Reddit, the interview is already being discussed – although the focus is less on what Zelnick says and more on how spontaneous the appearance really was. The clip was also picked up by GameRoll on X:
The interview also briefly touches on GTA 6. Zelnick once again confirms the November 19, 2026 release date. When asked why the game has taken so long, the Take-Two CEO explains that after GTA 5 (PS5 version currently around $25 on Amazon), the Rockstar team “seeks to do something that’s never been done before” – and that this is “really hard and takes a long time.” At the moment, however, the community seems more interested in what the interview might mean for the announced promotional phase for GTA 6.
Many users consider it unlikely that a CEO like Strauss Zelnick would randomly end up in a lengthy street interview. Most assume that the supposedly spontaneous moment was staged – and that is exactly what makes the interview so interesting for fans. It is small enough not to look like an official campaign, but big enough to get the community moving again. Essentially, it is a kind of marketing that is not supposed to look like marketing.
Take-Two had already hinted that the major marketing phase for GTA 6 would start this summer. Against this backdrop, and with the official start of summer less than a week away, parts of the community see the video as a possible kickoff. If that is the case, more promotional material is likely to follow in the near future, perhaps even the long-awaited third trailer.
