An EU retailer posted new SKUs that seemed to correspond to GTA 6 pre-orders. The higher prices concerned some buyers, but a dependable retail insider has dismissed them as placeholders. Barring any earlier leaks, Rockstar should confirm the game's cost on June 25th.

With GTA 6 pre-orders beginning on June 25th, some buyers are already setting aside funds. Leaked SKUs at European retailer Fnac suggested that the base version of the title would cost $80. However, the trustworthy insider billbil_kun has clarified that the listings are only placeholders.

Placeholder drama strikes again

The confusion began when gamers spotted five SKUs labeled as RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4, and RS5. Many fans assumed that these were shortened forms of "Rockstar". The least expensive option was €90, which, unsurprisingly, drew criticism. Accounting for the totals including Value-Added Tax (VAT), in most cases, that would translate to $80.

According to Fnac, other versions would range from €109.99 to €199.99, or an estimated $100 to $200+.

Billbil_kun can’t rule out the game costing more than the average release. Still, on social media, he explained that the “EAN codes (like UPC in US) aren’t belonging to Take2 traditional games prefixes.” It’s questionable whether the GTA 6 price for the standard edition and deluxe/collector’s editions will match these values.

Will GTA 6 break records at any price?

The news has temporarily quieted followers who refuse to pay more than $70/€80 for any game. Billbil_kun has a reputation for providing reliable retail leaks before official confirmation. Nevertheless, many analysts believe that even at a higher cost, the Rockstar project will meet its lofty fiscal projections.

Investors are also awaiting the June 25th GTA 6 pre-orders, with pricing to influence the Take-Two Interactive stock. Major shareholder Jefferies Financial Group anticipates $80 for the standard edition. With record sales volume expected, the smallest difference in MSRP can dramatically increase the company’s revenue.

Jefferies thinks that, as hype has built ahead of its November 19th release date, most buyers would be willing to pay a premium GTA 6 price. Meanwhile. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has hinted at a “reasonable” or “fair” mark, casting doubt on guesses of $100+. Either way, Rockstar will finally end the debate with a pre-order update on June 25th.
