GTA 6: These are fans’ biggest concerns right now

Fans still expect Grand Theft Auto VI to launch as planned in November 2026, likely preceded by a summer marketing push. Another delay does not appear to be the community’s biggest worry at the moment. Instead, discussions are increasingly focused on technical limitations, story quality and the future of the online mode. The latest debate was sparked by an X post from GTA 6 Unlimited, which asked fans about their biggest concerns surrounding GTA 6. Three points quickly came up:
- 30 FPS cap: Based on the trailers released so far, GTA 6 looks extremely ambitious from a technical standpoint. Its densely populated world, detailed character models and complex lighting could put heavy demands on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While fans are hoping for a 60 FPS performance mode, many expect the game to launch with a 30 FPS cap.
- Disappointing story: The story is another major concern. After GTA V (PS5 version currently available for around $25 on Amazon) and Red Dead Redemption 2, expectations are high. The trailers suggest a cinematic Bonnie-and-Clyde-style dynamic between Lucia and Jason. Some fans worry that the story may look spectacular but fail to match Rockstar’s strongest work emotionally or narratively.
- Missing interiors: The open world shown so far looks impressively alive, but it remains unclear how many buildings and locations will actually be explorable and how much of the world will simply serve as scenery.
GTA Online as another cause for concern
The debate gained additional momentum after content creator Red “Yangy” Young responded on X. His main concern is GTA 6’s online mode. He fears Rockstar could move the next GTA Online away from an open criminal sandbox and closer to platforms such as Fortnite, Roblox or FiveM.
That concern is also being discussed separately on Reddit – and it has some background. Rockstar acquired the team behind FiveM in 2023, a platform best known for GTA roleplay servers. For many players, that could make GTA Online more open, creative and community-driven in the long term. Others fear the classic core could be lost: completing missions with friends, earning money, buying properties, collecting vehicles and building a criminal empire.
Other concerns about GTA 6
Fans on X and Reddit are also raising other concerns. Once again, GTA Online is a major topic, though this time because of its release timing rather than its content. Some players fear the online mode may not arrive until one or even two years after the main game. Others worry that progression could become too grind-heavy.
Monetization is another controversial issue. Some fans fear Rockstar could focus too heavily on Shark Cards and neglect story content in the long run. Over-the-top online additions are also viewed critically, with flying cars and weaponized vehicles often cited as negative examples. Anyone who wants to add another perspective to the discussion is welcome to share their concerns in the comments below.
