Absurd GTA 6 first week estimates put it at almost 4x of GTA 5

Rockstar is yet to start marketing for GTA 6 in full force, but it's already looking like a massive revenue generator. Pre-orders went live late last month, and according to the latest analysis, the numbers have been ‘absurd’. It could very likely surpass its initial estimate of $7.6 billion in 60 days.

A report from Newzoo, a firm that analyzes and monitors PC and console games data, states that GTA 6 has already amassed $180 million in pre-orders just across the US and five key European regions (via Insider Gaming). Extrapolating from this, the global pre-orders have been estimated to be $260 million in just about three weeks. This is the largest opening Newzoo has observed

The game is still four months away from release, and a trailer 3 is still pending. Considering this, and the additional marketing efforts Rockstar will put in, Newzoo estimates that in its first week after launch, GTA 6 will bring in between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion. This includes both the $80 standard edition and the $100 Ultimate edition. For reference, GTA 5 brought in around $1.15 billion in its first week.

There were reports that PS6 pre-orders were outperforming Xbox six to one, partly due to a lack of marketing on Xbox. Microsoft, however, claimed that’s not true. Furthermore, there will be no physical discs for GTA 6, so that’s also more money for Rockstar. Because of the backlash that Sony faced due to its all-digital campaign, GTA 6’s marketing on the PlayStation was removed, but that didn’t really affect pre-orders for the game.
