GTA 6 trailer speculation grows with strange timing of August Take Two earnings call

The next Take-Two Interactive earnings call is set for August 7th. Followers have noted the unusual Friday date and 8 AM EST timing for the event. The publisher may want investors to ponder a major announcement over the weekend. Gamers have their own theories, as the timing of the third GTA 6 trailer remains unclear.
Expectations vs reality
Typically, CEO Strauss Zelnick picks a day between Tuesday and Thursday to update stockholders. Also, the start time is almost always after the market closes rather than before. The executive could have significant news to share, but is unlikely to premiere new gameplay footage.
Following the November 2023 Take-Two earnings call, Rockstar Games revealed the first GTA 6 trailer would premiere a month later. The second video arrived on May 6th, 2025, around two weeks before investors convened.
The May 2026 call did not coincide with a new cinematic either, but Zelnick did reconfirm the title’s release date. He also promised a marketing campaign would launch by the summer. GTA 6 pre-orders have since opened, accompanied by a fresh batch of screenshots. Even so, trailer #3 is proving elusive.
Many buyers were surprised that Rockstar started the reservation process without showing more gameplay. If players have to wait until close to the August 7th earnings call or after, they will only be more disappointed. Regardless, Zelnick may reassure shareholders that a slow drip of news hasn’t affected sales.
A fiscally-focused meeting
A GTA Boom article notes that the company’s first quarter of fiscal year 2027 ended on June 30th. Since pre-orders began on June 25th, attendees could hear the first partial revenue estimates on August 7th. So far, analysts have only offered unofficial totals. Any figures will influence the Take-Two stock price, as holders reevaluate their personal projections. Attendees will also have a chance to submit questions during a Q&A session.
Some critics question the decision not to ship physical discs by the GTA 6 release date. Still, judging by rankings on marketplaces including the PlayStation Store, those fears are likely unwarranted.
