HP has releasd a new 16-inch laptop globally. A powerful workstation with Intel Panther Lake processors and optional Nvidia graphics, the ZBook 8 G2i 16 can be configured with up to 64 GB of RAM, a 120 Hz display and the Core Ultra X9 388H packing Arc B390 graphics.

HP has released numerous laptops already this year, including the OmniBook X Flip 14 we reviewed a few days ago with AMD Zen 5 processors. On top of that, the company continues to expand its ZBook line with more models. To recap, HP already sells 14-inch versions of the ZBook 8 G2 with AMD and Intel processors.

Alternatively, the company is also offering a 16-inch variant globally built around Intel’s Panther Lake platform. Replacing the ZBook 8 G1i 16 in the process (curr. $2,399 on Amazon), the ZBook 8 G2i 16 adds a built-in numberpad over the smaller ZBook 8 G2i 14.

As the images below show, this decision pushes the latter’s keyboard leftwards, with HP also centering the laptop’s mechanical trackpad against its keyboard rather than against its chassis. Consequently, the ZBook’s trackpad is somewhat shunted off to the side.

Setting that aside, the ZBook 8 G2i 16 can be configured with up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage. Also, HP offers an array of processor options between the Core Ultra 5 325 and Core Ultra X9 388H vPro, plus everything in between. Moreover, the laptop can be configured with Nvidia’s RTX Pro 500 Blackwell GPU and 68 Wh or 77 Wh batteries.

Alternatively, these batteries can be paired with Intel’s Arc B370 or Arc B390 iGPUs. Separately, HP sells almost a dozen display options. While none are OLED, two are 120 Hz VRR panels. Furthermore, one of these outputs at 3,840 x 2,400 pixels with 500 nits peak brightness. Panels with up to 800 nits peak brightness are available too.

Currently, pricing starts at $2,938 in the US but rises to over $6,500 when configuring the Core Ultra X9 388H vPro and 64 GB of RAM alone. By contrast, a Core Ultra 7 356H SKU with 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD and a 1200p display costs €2,923 in the Eurozone. Meanwhile, the ZBook 8 G2i 16 starts at £2,452 in the UK with a Core Ultra X7 368H, 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD and a 2.4K/120 Hz display.
