The latest Legion 7a is only a few months old. Nonetheless, Lenovo has already fixed one of the major shortcomings we had with our recent review unit. Also known as the Legion 7 16AGP11, the 16-inch gaming laptop was previously available with up to AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor and Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU (curr. $1,999 on Amazon).
While the GPU can reach 115 W with Dynamic Boost, capping the latest Legion 7a at the GeForce RTX 5060 meant that it offered worse performance than its predecessor in some instances. However, Lenovo should have now addressed this by adding the more powerful GeForce RTX 5070. Not only that, but the company has opted for the 12 GB VRAM version rather than Nvidia's original 8 GB VRAM option.
According to Lenovo's PSREF website, Lenovo intends to sell the Legion 7 16AGP11 globally with the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB. Nvidia's new laptop GPU will can only be paired with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470, though. By contrast, Lenovo restricts the Ryzen AI 7 450 to the lesser GeForce RTX 5060. Currently, we cannot find the new Legion 7 16AGP11 on any Lenovo websites.
In the meantime, Best Buy is selling Lenovo's new variant with 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, a 240 Hz OLED and Glacier White or Nebula colours. Pricing is set at $3,374.99, which is $575 more than the MSRP of a GeForce RTX 5060-powered equivalent. A current sale for the latter means that new GeForce RTX 5070 options cost $950 more than GeForce RTX 5060 models. Please see our original Legion 7 16AGP11 review for more details.
